What Is DTF Prinitng

DTF printing, or Direct-to-Film printing, is a process where designs are printed onto a special film and then transferred to various fabrics or materials. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the DTF printing process:

  1. Design Creation: The first step involves creating a design using graphic design software. This design can include various colors and intricate details.

  2. Printing on Film: The design is printed onto a special PET film using a DTF printer. The printer uses textile ink, typically a combination of white and colored inks, to create the design. White ink is used as an underbase to ensure the design's colors pop on dark fabrics.

  3. Powder Application: After printing, a hot-melt adhesive powder is applied to the wet ink on the film. This powder sticks to the ink and will serve as the adhesive that bonds the design to the fabric.

  4. Curing: The printed film with the powder is then cured, usually in a curing oven or using a heat press. This step ensures that the powder melts and bonds to the ink, forming a solid adhesive layer.

  5. Transfer: The cured film is placed on the fabric or material where the design needs to be transferred. Using a heat press, the film is pressed onto the fabric at a specific temperature and pressure for a set amount of time.

  6. Peeling: Once the transfer process is complete, the film is peeled away, leaving the design adhered to the fabric. The result is a durable and vibrant print that can withstand multiple washes.
